MapRun Servers
The backend system for managing events and results is hosted by Amazon Web Services.
Normally, users do not need to worry about there being multiple servers, however, event administrators may benefit from understanding the following details.
There are three servers (or clusters of servers):
Changing Between Servers
In MapRun, use the Options and Settings button and then select: "MapRun Server" to see the options shown below.
The setting will revert to the Main Server upon re-starting the App.
Normally, users do not need to worry about there being multiple servers, however, event administrators may benefit from understanding the following details.
There are three servers (or clusters of servers):
- Production (or Main)
- This is this main server that MapRun looks to, to list and download events and to upload results
- The URL for any functions relating to this server contain: p.fne.com.au
- Backup
- This server is hosted in a different data centre to the production server
- It mirrors production - with data being copied from production every hour
- Should an event organiser find that the main server is unreachable by the App (most critically in the pre-start period for an event, when participants are trying to access the Events), they have the option of changing over to this backup server. See details below.
- Note that results will be uploaded (by default) to this server as well.
- The URL for any functions relating to this server contain: b.fne.com.au
- Development and Test
- This server is used for software development and testing
- It also supports training
- Events and results on this server should not be relied upon and can be deleted without notice
- The URL for any functions relating to this server contain: a.fne.com.au

For web-based functions, such as creating events and reviewing results, users/administrators need to use URLs that contain the appropriate server name ie p.fne.com.au or b.fne.com.au or a.fne.com.au.
Note that if a runner completes a run and their results are uploaded to say the Backup Server (because that is the setting they had set), it is possible to upload again to the Main server when it is available. To do this they should select the Main Server, re-open the result they want to upload and tap the upload button.
Results are NOT automatically merged from the backup server to the main server.
