MapRun - Options for how to participate

MapRun's main focus is to provide Orienteering Clubs with a convenient, flexible way of organising regular events with the minimum of effort. The mainstream path for this is:
- events are published by a MapRun Administrator to a regional folder, 
- runners use MapRun6 on their phone or MapRunG on their Garmin watch, (at a fixed time or over a period of a week or so) ,
- punching is via GPS-based location, and
- results are automatically generated and published to the MapRun website.

However there are many options:
- Events can be setup by individuals without needing Admin permissions (QuickStart and CheckSites)
- Runners can use MapRun6 on their Android/iPhone, or MapRunG on a Garmin watch that runs Apps, or use any GPS device to create a result with their track in Strava
- Punching can be GPS-based or QR-Code or NFC tags

This page focuses on options participants have to participate in a MapRun events. The following table summaries the main three options: Phone, Garmin Watch capable of running Apps or Any GPS device:

Create the result in MapRun 6.5+ integrated with Strava (recommended)

​via the MapRun Console website by manually uploading a GPX file.
