MapRun - Bluetooth GPS
MapRun6 normally uses the GPS built into the Android or iOS device.
However, for some applications, for example mapping, it may be better to use an external GPS. These devices can offer higher accuracy. Some allow the reception of location signals from multiple GPS satellite systems.
There are typically more devices available for Android than iPhone, so the description below targets Android.

There are two ways to use an external GPS device with MapRun:
- Connect via Bluetooth directly to the GPS device
- Pair with the Bluetooth device using your Android Bluetooth settings
- Then in MapRun6, use "Options and Settings" to select the GPS Input as "Bluetooth GPS"
- On the home screen, use the "Select Bluetooth GPS" to choose the particular device
- Then upon tapping "Go to Start", wait for Bluetooth GPS to connect.
- On the main run screen, the third tab shows a listing of GPS data being received from the Bluetooth GPS
- Use a Bluetooth GPS App to connect to the GPS device
- Use an App like "Bluetooth GPS" or "NTRIP" to connect to the Bluetooth GPS
- This will deliver locations to Android as "mock locations"
- MapRun6 will accept these locations as valid locations (with the GPS Input set to "Phone GPS")
- By using MapRun6 in this way, the extra features of Bluetooth GPS Apps can be accessed eg to achieve real-time corrections to GPS data (eg RTK).
