MapRun - "Any Track"
MapRun "Any Track" allows you to participate in a MapRun event using any device that can upload a GPS track to Strava. (MapRun6 version 6.5+). "Any Track" supports all event types (line, scatter, score), including "Start Anywhere".
All that is needed to have a result in a MapRun event, is the track you ran, sync'd or uploaded to Strava.
MapRun6 (v6.5+) has a new feature to "Create a Result from Strava". This works like the existing "Review Results" function, and allows you to simply review your track, match it to control locations, and upload a result for the event.
This is likely to be attractive to participants who:
- don't want to run with their phone,
- don't have a Garmin Watch that can run Apps like MapRunG,
- have a Suunto, Fitbit, Apple or other GPS-capable watch (or bike computer etc)
- participants who don't want to bother with sending an event to their Gamin for MapRunG, or
- participants in training events who don't need beeps on punching in the field.
- participants in permanent courses with fixed markers in the field to visually confirm visiting the control site whilst in the field.
The main feature missing when compared with MapRun6 on your phone or MapRunG on a Garmin Watch, and assuming you are participating with a printed map, is that there are no beeps or vibration at controls whilst you are participating.
See this page for a full comparison on the options for participating in an MapRun Event.

Other Options
This capability has been available with the "GPS Track Upload" feature on the web-based MapRun Console. However that requires exporting a GPX file from one system, and using your computer to upload it via the Console.
MapRun "Any Track" allows you to conveniently create a MapRun result from any track using the MapRun6 App on your phone.

Step by Step with "Any Track"
- Select an event you'd like to participate in (or create your own using MapRun6 QuickStart or CheckSites)
- Print a paper map (optional, but highly desirable)
- Record your GPS track whilst participating ... just simply start your recording at or before visiting the Start location and stopping after visiting the Finish location.
- Sync your track to your Strava account... Many people have this setup to happen automatically.
- You don't need to make your track public if you don't want to share it with your followers. (ie "Private" tracks can be used)
- In MapRun6 on your phone:
- Be sure your personal details are setup
- Select the event you have participated in
- Tap "Show Results" and then "Create Result from Strava Track"
- If you have not logged into Strava via the MapRun6 App already, you will be prompted to login to Strava and give MapRun permission to retrieve your tracks
- MapRun will show a summary of your most recent activity in Strava and give you the opportunity to step back through previous activities over the last 7 days to select the track to use for a result in this event.
- MapRun will download this track and show a screen similar to the existing "Review Results (HITMO)" screen
- After you have confirmed the controls you visited, you can tap "Create Result" and your result will be included with others for this event.
